2. MINUTES - ANNUAL COUNCIL - WEDNESDAY 25 MAY 2011
To approve as a correct record the Minutes of the Annual Council meeting held on Wednesday  25 May 2011.

3. MAYOR'S COMMUNICATIONS
To receive any communications that the Mayor may wish to put before Council.

4. MAIN DEBATE -  'PLEASE KEEP ME SAFE' - SAFEGUARDING CHILDREN IN STEVENAGE
The debate will be preceded by presentation from the Hertfordshire Safeguarding Children Board.

Additionally, as item 7 below relates to safeguarding children the Chief Executive has indicated that it should be considered in conjunction with this Main Debate.

7. QUESTIONS FROM THE PUBLIC
To receive the following question from a member of the public in accordance with the Council's Standing Orders:
 
Mary Griffith - Stevenage SG2

'Would the Council agree that safeguarding children begins with good parenting?'

NOTE:  As the issue raised relates to Safeguarding Children the Chief Executive has indicated that it should be considered in conjunction with the Main Debate at item 4 above.

8. LEADER OF THE COUNCIL'S UPDATE
In accordance with the Council's Standing Orders, the Leader of the Opposition shall be given the opportunity to raise one matter relevant to the Borough that has arisen since the last meeting of the Council.

The Leader of the Council shall then have the opportunity to advise the Council of matters relevant to the Borough that have arisen since the last meeting.

11. MATTER REFERRED FROM THE AUDIT COMMITTEE - ANNUAL GOVERNANCE STATEMENT 2010/2011
At its meeting on 15 June 2011 the Audit Committee considered a report for recommendation to Council concerning the Council's Annual Governance Statement 2010/2011 when it was agreed -

That Council be recommended to approve the Annual Governance Statement 2010/2011.

12. MATTER REFERRED FROM EXECUTIVE - STEVENAGE BOROUGH COUNCIL: MAKING A DIFFERENCE
At its meeting on 11 July the Executive considered a report (copy attached) for recommendation to Council concerning the draft of the Council's Annual Report 2011, together with proposed measure targets for 2011/2012 and arrangements for publication.

At the time of going to print it is not known what the Executive has decided to recommend to Council.  The Executive's recommendations will therefore be circulated at the meeting for consideration.
