To approve as a correct record, the attached Minutes of the Meeting of the Council held on 25 February 2026 for signature by the Mayor.

To elect the Mayor for the Municipal Year 2026/27.

To elect the Deputy Mayor for the Municipal Year 2026/27.

To appoint a Youth Mayor for 2026/27, as nominated by the Stevenage Youth Council.

To elect the Leader of the Council to serve for a four year period 2026-2030 subject to Local Government Reorganisation Arrangements.

On appointment the Leader is required to appoint a Deputy Leader and a Cabinet of between 2 and 9 Councillors and allocate to them specific areas of responsibility. The Leader may also address other Cabinet delegations.

To note the appointment of the Leaders and Deputy Leaders of the Political Groups on the Council for the Municipal Year 2026/27.

To note the appointment of the Leader and Deputy Leader of the Opposition for the Municipal Year 2026/27.

To advise Council of the results of the May 2026 Borough Council Elections.

To consider various issues concerning the Council’s political management structure and the Constitution for 2026/27.

Report to follow

A.        To appoint Members to the Standing Committees of Stevenage Borough Council for the Municipal Year 2026/27; and

B.        To appoint to the positions of Chair and Vice-Chair for each of those Committees.
