At the Special Council Meeting held on 31 July 2024 Council passed the following resolution:

‘That in accordance with the provisions of Section 249 of the Local Government Act 1972, the Council confers the title of Freeman of the Borough on Mrs Joan Lloyd  who had rendered over 48 years eminent and continuous service as a Councillor, holding a number of roles including Mayor and Mayoress, Deputy Leader, Chairman of the Planning and Development Committee, Portfolio Holder with responsibility for Resources and for her commitment to the Town and in particular the residents of the Bandley Hill and Poplars Ward.’

Mrs Joan Lloyd has been invited to the meeting for the formal presentation of this honour.
