To consider the following Motion of which notice has been given in accordance with Standing Orders:

“That, in accordance with the provisions of Section 249 of the Local Government Act 1972, this Council confers the title of Freeman of the Borough upon Simon Speller in recognition of his eminent and continuous service to the Borough of Stevenage over a period of 31 years as an elected member.  During that time, serving with distinction in a number of significant roles, including twice serving as Mayor of Stevenage, Chair of the Planning and Development Committee, Portfolio Holder for Environment and Performance, and Portfolio Holder for Culture, Leisure and Wellbeing. This honour is bestowed in recognition of outstanding commitment to the Town and its residents in particular the Pin Green and Shephall Wards, and for his exceptional contributions to public life and the community through leadership in sport, scouting, history and culture.”
