- CONFERRING THE TITLE - HONORARY ALDERMAN
Stevenage Borough Council, at an Extraordinary meeting on 23rd May, 2007 passed the following resolution:
'That in accordance with the provisions of Section 249 of the Local Government Act 1972, this Council confers the title of Honorary Alderman on Brian Hall and Ken Vale who have each rendered eminent services to the Council, serving for over 39 years as elected Members until they stood down in May 2007'.
This Council is formally convened to confer the title of Honorary Alderman on Brian Peter Hall and Kenneth Vale. The two Honorary Aldermen will be requested to sign an acceptance of the Honour that is to be witnessed by the Mayor.
Members of the Council and Freemen of the Borough may be called to speak in tribute to the Honorary Aldermen.
The Mayor will congratulate the Honorary Aldermen and present them with a badge of office and a certificate. The Honorary Aldermen will acknowledge the Honour conferred upon them at the conclusion of the ceremony.
The assembly will stand while the Mayor and Deputy Chief Executive leave the Chamber.
A reception in the Ingelheim Lounge will follow the ceremony.
