    To approve as a correct record the Minutes of the Council meeting held on Wednesday 1 October, 2008.

  3. MAYOR'S COMMUNICATION
    To receive any communications that the Mayor may wish to put before Council.
  4. MAIN DEBATE - "IN SICKNESS AND IN HEALTH" - HEALTH PROVISION IN STEVENAGE
    To receive a presentation from the Stevenage and North Hertfordshire Primary Care Trust on health provision in Stevenage.
  5. PETITIONS AND DEPUTATIONS
    None received.
  6. QUESTIONS FROM THE PUBLIC
    The following question has been received from Mrs. A. Meldrum of Bedwell -

    "I would like to raise the issue of the reduction in service on the No. 10 bus route. This route is the only one that serves all the people of Rockingham way - top end of Bedwell and the hive of the Old Town. These residents, many (but not all) are elderly and disabled have had their normal everyday living affected and are now curfewed to be home before 3.00 pm. There are also parents and school children affected by this cut.

    It would appear that no consideration was given to the users and the necessity of this route, when the decision was made. Will the Council reflect on this and reinstate the service to all users?"
  7. LEADER OF THE COUNCIL'S UPDATE
    In accordance with the Standing Order 11, the Leader of the Opposition shall be given the opportunity to raise one matter relevant to the Borough that has arisen since the last meeting of the Council.

    The Leader of the Council shall then have the opportunity to advise the Council of matters relevant to the Borough that have arisen since the last meeting.

  9. QUESTIONS FROM MEMBERS TO COMMITTEE CHAIRS/PORTFOLIO HOLDERS
    None received.
  10. REFERENCE UP FROM OLD STEVENAGE AREA COMMITTEE - NAME OF AREA COMMITTEE
    At its meeting on 30 September 2008, the Old Stevenage Area Committee agreed the following recommendation to Council for consideration -

    That the change of name of the Old Stevenage Area Committee to the 'Old Town, Symonds Green and Woodfield Area Committee' be approved.
  11. MATTER REFERRED FROM AUDIT COMMITTEE - REVIEW OF THE COUNCILS TREASURY MANAGEMENT STRATEGY
    At its meeting on 17 November 2008, the Audit Committee considered a report that provided an update on the Council's Treasury Management Strategy during the current 'credit crunch' (copy attached). The report detailed urgent changes to the Strategy to account for the problems in the banking sector and having considered
    the report the Committee resolved -

    "That Council be recommended to adopt the revisions to the Treasury Management Strategy, as outlined in paragraph 4.3 of the report."

  13. EXCLUSION OF PRESS AND PUBLIC
    To consider the following Motion -
    "That under Section 100(A) of the Local Government Act 1972, the press and public be excluded from the meeting for the following items of business on the grounds that they involve the likely disclosure of exempt information as described in paragraphs 1-7 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Act, as amended by SI2006 No.88."
