  5. MAIN DEBATE - MAKE STEVENAGE SPARKLE - KEEP THE TOWN LITTER FREE
    To consider the environmental impact of littering and fly tipping and the consequences and costs of this anti-social behaviour.

  8. LEADER OF THE COUNCIL'S UPDATE
    In accordance with the Standing order 11, the Leader of the Opposition shall be given the opportunity to raise one matter relevant to the Borough that has arisen since the last meeting of the Council.

    The Leader of the Council shall then have the opportunity to advise the Council of matters relevant to the Borough that have arisen since the last meeting.
  9. NOTICE OF MOTIONS
    Under the provisions of Standing Order 15 the following Motions have been submitted for consideration -
    1. 'This Council notes that thanks to investment in the NHS and greater partnership working, progress has been made on reducing health inequalities in Stevenage and over the next 5 years, with investment of over £100 million, the Lister Hospital will undergo a phased development that will see the hospital transformed as all specialist acute services serving east and north Hertfordshire are brought together.

      The health of Stevenage people has also benefited from the national investment that has provided 5000 more GPs and 4000 more practice nurses.

      The Council also welcomes the Government's intention to accept the recommendations of the Darzi Review which will make health services in Stevenage more accessible, with proposals that include -
      1. the provision of an additional GP health centre in each of the 152 Primary Care Trust Area, complementing, but not replacing, existing GP provision, and providing a wide range of GP, diagnostic and other services open 12 hours a day all year; and
      2. ensuring that at least half of all GP practices offer extended hours in the evenings and/or during weekends.'

  10. QUESTIONS FROM MEMBERS TO COMMITTTEE CHAIRS/PORTFOLIO HOLDERS
    Under the provisions of Standing Order 14, Councillor Michael Downing has submitted the following question to be answered by the Executive Member (Community, Health and Older People) - 'What measures are Stevenage Borough Council planning in response to the Audit Commissions report 'Don't stop now - Preparing for and ageing population'?'
  11. MATTER REFERRED FROM THE EXECUTIVE - STEVENAGE COMMUNITY SAFETY PARTNERSHIP PLAN 2008/2011
    The attached report concerning the Stevenage Community Safety Partnership Plan 2008-2011 was considered by the Executive on 9 July 2008 and the Scrutiny Overview Committee on the 14 July 2008. The Scrutiny Overview Committee had no additional comments to make on the plan and accordingly the following recommendation from the Executive is submitted to Council -
    'That the Stevenage Community Safety Partnership Plan 2008-2011, as appended to the report, be noted and approved.'

  12. MATTER REFERRED FROM THE EXECUTIVE - TREASURY MANAGEMENT REVIEW 2007/08
    The attached report concerning the 2007/08 Treasury Review was considered by the Executive on 9 July 2008 and the following recommendation to Council was agreed - 'That the 2007/08 Treasury Management Review, as detailed in the report, be approved.'

  13. EXCLUSION OF PRESS AND PUBLIC
    To consider the following Motion -
    'That under Section 100(A) of the Local Government Act 1972, the press and public be excluded from the meeting for the following items of business on the grounds that they involve the likely disclosure of exempt information as described in paragraphs 1-7 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Act, as amended by SI2006 No.88.'
